Based on a complete review of both the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, Reddit's policies are standard for a large social media platform but contain several clauses that heavily favor the company, especially regarding user content rights and liability. While transparency is good, the broad content license, explicit AI training rights, and content retention after account deletion are significant concerns.

Account & Profile Information
When you create an account, Reddit collects your username (which is public), password (if not using SSO), and interests for content/ad recommendations. You can optionally provide a bio, gender, birthday, location, language, profile picture, and social links. Reddit also stores your account preferences and settings. For Reddit Ads/Pro users or program participants, additional information like company details, name, date of birth, address, tax, government ID, and payment information is collected.
User-Generated Content
Reddit collects all content you submit, including public posts, comments, chat messages, and associated metadata (text, links, images, GIFs, audio, videos, software, tools). It also collects non-public content like saved drafts, private messages, private chats, modmail, reports, and communications with Reddit support.
Activity & Usage Data
Reddit automatically collects information about your actions on the Services, such as voting, saving, hiding, reporting, following, blocking, community subscriptions, and moderator status. It also tracks pages visited, how you interact with content and ads, links clicked, and search terms.
Device & Connection Data
Reddit collects device and network connection information, including your IP address (retained for 100 days, except for account creation IP), user-agent string, browser type, operating system, referral URLs, device IDs, device settings, and mobile carrier name.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Information is collected from cookies and similar technologies to deliver and maintain services, improve your experience, understand user activity, personalize content and advertisements, and measure ad effectiveness.
Location Data
Reddit automatically infers your approximate location based on your IP address. You may also choose to share more precise location information.
Inferred & Derived Data
Reddit infers attributes like age range, gender, and preferred languages based on the information it collects about you. It also collects public profile information like karma scores, trophies, achievement badges, moderator status, active communities, and 'cake day'.
Third-Party & Linked Service Data
Reddit receives demographic or interest information about you from third parties, including advertisers, and combines it with your Reddit data. If you link third-party services (e.g., social media, unofficial apps) to your Reddit account, Reddit receives information about your use of those services. Data is also collected from third-party sites that integrate Reddit's services (embeds, ad technology).
Transactional & Blockchain Data
If you purchase Paid Services, payment information is handled by third-party processors. Reddit collects details about your purchases. For Collectible Avatars or NFTs, Reddit may collect public blockchain data and addresses, but not your Reddit Vault private key.
Service Provision & Improvement
Reddit uses your information to operate, maintain, and improve its Services, including providing personalized and age-appropriate content and features.
Advertising & Personalization
Reddit uses your data, including inferred information and data from third parties, to provide relevant and personalized advertising on and off Reddit. This includes optimizing and measuring the effectiveness of ad campaigns.
Content Moderation & Enforcement
Your information is used to help protect the safety of Reddit and its users, including blocking spammers, addressing abuse, age-restricting content, enforcing the User Agreement and other policies, and complying with applicable law.
Research & Development
Reddit uses collected data to research and develop new services and features.
Customer Support & Communications
Your information is used to send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, invoices, and other support messages. Reddit also uses it for customer service and to send promotional communications (which you can opt out of).
Data Sharing with Service Providers

Broad Content License

This means: You give Reddit a permanent, unrestricted, worldwide right to use, copy, change, distribute, and display anything you post, including your name or likeness. They can also let other companies use your content, and you won't get paid for it.
Content Used for AI Training

This means: Reddit explicitly states that the broad license you grant includes the right for them to use your posts, comments, and other content to train their Artificial Intelligence and machine learning models.
Waiver of Moral Rights

This means: You give up your right to claim credit for your content or to object to how Reddit (or others they license it to) uses or modifies it, even if it changes the original meaning or context.

Limited Liability for Reddit
HIGH RISK“IN NO EVENT WILL THE AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF THE REDDIT ENTITIES EXCEED THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100) OR ANY AMOUNT YOU PAID REDDIT IN THE PREVIOUS SIX MONTHS FOR THE SERVICES GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.”
This means: Reddit severely limits how much they can be held responsible for any damages you might suffer. Their total liability to you is capped at a maximum of $100, or whatever you paid them in the last six months, whichever is higher. This is a very low cap for a major service.
Mandatory Jurisdiction

This means: If you have a dispute with Reddit, you must resolve it under California law, and any lawsuits must be filed in courts in San Francisco, California. This can be a significant hurdle if you live elsewhere.
Reddit's Right to Terminate Your Account

Delete your account
Yes, you can delete your account from the settings page. Your profile will no longer be visible to others and will be disassociated from content you posted under that account.
Data retention
When you delete your account, posts, comments, and messages you submitted *before* deletion will still be visible to others unless you manually delete each specific piece of content first. Reddit may also retain certain information about you, such as identifiers for suspended or banned accounts, for legitimate business or legal purposes.

Yes, you can request a copy of the personal information Reddit maintains about you through their Help Center.
Broad Content License & AI Training
You grant Reddit a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, and sublicensable license to use all your content (posts, comments, images, videos, etc.) for any purpose, including explicitly for training AI and machine learning models.
